This page allows you to submit a request relating to personal information that TankSafe® may hold or process about you.
Your Rights Under POPIA
Depending on the nature of your request and the applicable legislation, you may ask TankSafe® to:
- Confirm whether personal information about you is held or processed.
- Request access to personal information held about you.
- Correct personal information that is inaccurate, incomplete, misleading or out of date.
- Request deletion of personal information where there are lawful grounds for doing so.
- Request the destruction or deletion of records that TankSafe® is no longer authorised to retain.
- Object to the processing of your personal information.
- Object to or opt out of direct marketing communications.
Certain requests may need to follow a prescribed POPIA or PAIA process. If this applies to your request, TankSafe® may ask you to complete the appropriate prescribed form or provide additional information.
Before You Submit a Request
Please provide enough information for TankSafe® to understand your request and identify the relevant personal information.
For your protection, TankSafe® may need to verify your identity before providing access to, correcting or deleting personal information.
If you are submitting a request on behalf of another person or organisation, TankSafe® may also request proof that you are authorised to act on their behalf.
Please do not submit passwords, banking information, copies of identity documents or other highly sensitive information through this form unless TankSafe® specifically requests it and provides an appropriate method for doing so.
Access, Correction and Deletion Requests
Some privacy requests are subject to formal procedures.
An objection to the processing of personal information may require completion of the prescribed POPIA objection form.
A request to correct or delete personal information, or to destroy or delete a record of personal information, may require completion of the prescribed POPIA correction or deletion form.
Formal requests for access to records may also need to be handled through the applicable Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) process.
TankSafe® will advise you if a prescribed form or additional information is required.
How Your Request Will Be Handled
Once your request has been received, TankSafe® will review the information provided and determine the appropriate process.
We may contact you to:
- Verify your identity.
- Confirm your authority to act on behalf of another person.
- Request further information to help identify the relevant records.
- Clarify the scope of your request.
- Ask you to complete an applicable prescribed POPIA or PAIA form.
Requests will be considered in accordance with POPIA, PAIA and other applicable legal requirements.
In certain circumstances, TankSafe® may be legally required or permitted to retain personal information even where deletion has been requested.
